Andrew Hamilton


Andrew Hamilton is Executive Director for Academic Innovation at the University of Houston, where he heads the Office of Faculty Development and Instructional Support. He is the principal architect of the Innovate UH initiative, an effort to bring faculty development, service learning, TA training, educational technology, and classroom design together to create active learning environments that better serve 21st century students. Before moving to UH, Hamilton was Senior Sustainability Scientist at the Global Institute of Sustainability and a faculty member in the School of Life Sciences at Arizona State. He is a graduate of Berea College, Boston College, and the University of California, San Diego. He has published widely in theoretical biology. The Evolution of Phylogenetic Systematics, his edited volume on the conceptual foundations of contemporary biological classification, will be published later this year by the University of California Press.
