Gaud Chair

Inspired by my interest in avant-garde runway fashion,
the Gaud chair is a reflection of the extravagant,
ornamental, and gaudy ideologies of the runway. The
delicate frame and fabric give it a softer, lighter presence,
while the colors and excess let it be bold and
inhabit a space of its own. The idea behind Gaud was
to also challenge the semantics of design to become
a conversation about power and idealization. The chair
features an elongated seat and a backrest is positioned
in the middle, letting it become a throne as it is only
for one person. This statement then starts to generate
questions about the idealization of models in fashion.
