Conversation is the foundation of an Honors College education. Every year, more than 300 faculty, alumni, students, and friends of the Honors College come together for The Great Conversation, an award-winning fundraising event, conceived in 1992 by Honors alumna Jane Cizik, in support of student scholarships and success. Both seminar and dinner party, The Great Conversation invites guests to engage in thoughtful dialogue on table topics in literature, religion, the arts, public policy, history, education, and the sciences- not to mention the “tasting tables” devoted to learning about good wines and fine whiskies.
For our 24th year, we invite you to converse with some of the leading minds from the University of Houston. Will you find yourself at a table with a noted political analyst, discussing America’s responses to the upcoming election, or with a writer considering “the stories we tell ourselves?” Will you discuss cooking shows with a professor of communication or Nixon, Kennedy, and Johnson with an American historian? From Texas music to ISIS, cyber security to the price of oil, we have much to think about and talk about, together.
Show your support for The Great Conversation and the students of The Honors College by joining the conversation as an underwriter, ticket purchaser, or event donor! We hope to see you there!
